TREATMENT: A chemical peel is a medical aesthetic procedure which involves the application of a specially formulated blend of acids to the skin. This causes a controlled injury to the skin promoting accelerated growth and collagen production. The peel works by removing layers of skin cell buildup to reveal a softer, smoother complexion. At Little Nurse Aesthetics you will be treated with Neostrata Professional System products. Peels range in depth of treatment with varying acid concentrations. It is usual to start with a lower percentage and if well tolerated, length of time left on will be increased and then the strength of the peel. It is possible to feel mild discomfort with feelings of stinging, burning or tingling, however it should not be painful and you will be monitored carefully throughout the procedure to ensure this is not the case.

BENEFITS/RESULTS: Chemical peels can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns. They can diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve the appearance of acne-prone skin, improve the appearance of mild scars and dark spots and improve overall skin tone and texture.

PREPARATION/AFTER-CARE: Using products containing Glycolic Acid or Retinol prior to a chemical peel can condition and acclimatise your skin.

After the procedure you will need to avoid using harsh products as your skin will be more sensitive than usual for 1-4 days. During this time use a gentle cream to soothe and hydrate the skin.

DURATION: The treatment will generally take approximately 45 minutes including initial consultation/assessment.

Skin will feel softer and smoother over the first couple of weeks following treatment with make up sitting better and products being more effectively absorbed.

Depending on the concern you are wanting to address it may be necessary to have a course of several treatments to achieve optimum results.

TREATMENT: This minimally invasive procedure involves the use of a medical device that creates controlled micro-surgical needle punctures of the skin surface. Following a consultation and skin assessment your skin will be cleansed thoroughly prior to starting. A hyaluronic acid serum will be applied to the area to be treated. The microneedling pen will be carefully glided across the areas of concern, creating hundreds of microscopic puncture wounds stimulating the bodies own natural repair process and activating collagen and elastin production. A rejuvenating, cooling face mask will be applied for 10 minutes after the treatment, leaving you feel relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to face the world again!

BENEFITS/RESULTS: Microneedling results in an appearance enhancement and is typically used for skin rejuvenation and/or scar repair. It is a great choice to help in reducing fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring and the appearance of stretch marks. It will also help to shrink pores and diminish the appearance of sun damaged patches and will generally smooth, firm and tone skin.

Because this treatment relies on the bodies own natural repair mechanism, complete results are not immediate, however, your skin should feel softer and products will sit better over the first few days following treatment. You may require a series of microneedling treatments, typically with at least 4-6 weeks between procedures, to achieve the maximum cosmetic result.

Immediately after the microneedling treatment skin may be red but this redness, which resembles mild sunburn, will resolve as the skin naturally recovers. Skin may remain red for 3 to 4 days after the treatment although it is usual for redness to subside within two days and many people are able to return to their normal activities the same or next day.

PREPARATION/AFTER-CARE: A week prior to your microneedling treatment it is advisable to avoid any agents that may increase skin sensitivity such as retinols and exfoliants. It is advisable to avoid Ibuprofen/aspirin and alcohol 24 hours prior to the procedure to reduce bleeding/bruising (consult your doctor prior to stopping any prescribed medication).

Treatment cannot be performed if active acne and sores are present.

Following treatment it is advisable to avoid the use of skin-care products containing retinol or alpha-hydroxy acids for a week. It is also recommended to avoid any application of make up or strenuous exercise in the first 24 hours following the procedure. Sun exposure should be avoided where possible in the first 5 days and a good SPF should be applied.

DURATION: The treatment itself will normally take about 30 minutes.

How long your treatment lasts will depend on your age and your skin type and how well your skin responds to the microneedling treatment. Although the increased amount of collagen to the treated area is permanent the ageing process will continue to occur and a regular maintenance treatment every 6-12 months is recommended.

TREATMENT: Lip filler treatment involves the injection of small amounts of hyaluronic acid gel into the lips in order to temporarily add volume and/or definition, using either small needles or cannula or a combination of both. A numbing cream can be used if required to reduce any discomfort.

BENEFITS/RESULTS: Lip filler can result in an enhanced appearance, adding volume, improving symmetry and adding definition to the lip border. This can, in turn, improve self-confidence.

PREPARATION/AFTER-CARE: Temporary redness and/or swelling may occur following a treatment. This will usually subside in the first few hours after a session, but may last for several days to a week.

Pinpoint bleeding is rare, but can occur following treatments. Bruising sometimes occurs.

It is advisable to avoid lipstick or lip gloss for the first 24 hours and to avoid rubbing or touching the lips after the procedure.

If you experience severe pain and discolouration you should inform the practitioner or seek medical attention as this could be a sign of an occlusion.

DURATION: Treatment times vary depending on the individual's needs. Over time, the filler will gradually break down and be absorbed by your body. As a result, injections will need to be repeated to maintain the desired effect. Due to the fact that the lips are constantly being used, lip fillers typically last slightly less than filler in other parts of the body, from 6 months depending on the speed at which your body breaks down the filler.

TREATMENT: Botulinum Toxin treatment involves the injection of a very small amount of a Botulinum Toxin solution, through a very fine needle into targeted facial muscles. This causes the muscles to relax and become temporarily inactive.

The procedure is generally not too uncomfortable with a cold pack being used where possible prior to treatment for added comfort and to help reduce bruising. Numbing cream can be used in some areas if appropriate though this is not normally needed.

BENEFITS/RESULTS: The objective of this treatment is to reduce the formation of mobile/active lines and prevent mobile lines becoming static lines. The appearance of static lines may also be reduced by the relaxation of the muscles releasing tension in the skin.

Botulinum Toxin treatment can also be used to balance muscle activity and strength on both sides of the face thus producing a more symmetrical appearance.

PREPARATION/AFTER-CARE: You will need to have a consultation and assessment appointment at least 2 days before the treatment. This is to ensure that the treatment is the best and safest option for you. Botulinum Toxin is a prescription drug so this will need to be ordered specifically for you and can only be done so following a face to face consultation.

It is recommended that you avoid alcohol and blood thinning medications 24 hours before and after treatment to reduce the risk of bleeding and bruising (please check with a doctor before stopping any prescribed medications).

Before booking your appointment consider any important events/holidays you have coming up. The ideal time to book your appointment is either after these or at least 3 weeks before.

Following your treatment you will be advised not to lay down for 4 hours or do strenuous exercise for the next 24 hours, this is to avoid displacement of the product. Full after-care information will be provided prior to and at the time of treatment in writing and verbally. Adherence to the after care advice will help to achieve the best outcomes.

Some clients may require a lower than average dosage and, for this reason, particularly with new clients, it is always wise to err on the side of caution and add more if needed.

Everyone reacts differently to Botox treatment and some clients may require a slightly higher dosage. A follow up appointment will be arranged for 2 weeks post treatment to review the results of the treatment and make any necessary adjustments.

DURATION: The actual treatment will take approximately 30 minutes, depending on how many areas you have chosen to have treated and which areas.

The treatment usually takes 3 to 5 days to begin working. The full effects are usually evident around two weeks after treatment and effects last for 3 to 6 months dependant on the individual and the area being treated.

TREATMENT: Injections of botulinum toxin A are injected into the masseter muscles (the muscles involved in chewing). This muscle is found on the side of the face connecting the cheekbone to the lower jaw bone. Botulinum toxin blocks nerve signals from activating the muscle causing it to relax. The procedure is not particularly uncomfortable with most people reporting a feeling of pressure rather than discomfort, during the treatment. Prior to the treatment you will have had a full consultation and assessment to ensure that this is the best and safest treatment for you to achieve the desired effects.

BENEFITS/RESULTS: Injecting a muscle relaxant into these strong muscles of the face and jaw can prevent teeth grinding (bruxism) and jaw clenching, pain and tension as well as contouring the lower face and creating a more balanced face shape.

PREPARATION/AFTERCARE: It is advisable that you do not plan this treatment whilst undergoing dental work. Avoiding alcohol in the 24 hours prior to the procedure or any blood thinning medication such as ibuprofen/aspirin is advisable to reduce the risk of bleeding and bruising (ensure you speak to a doctor before stopping any prescribed medications).

Downtime is minimal and there is no reason you can not return to normal duties avoiding laying down for 4 hours post procedure and strenuous exercise or extreme temperatures for 24-48 hours after the treatment. Avoid rubbing the treated area or applying harsh products or make up to reduce the risk of infection.

Full after-care will be provided in written and verbal form post treatment

DURATION: The procedure itself will take approximately 20 minutes. A consultation appointment will be required at least 2 days prior to the treatment.

It takes time for the nerve signals to be blocked and thus the muscle to relax - you should normally start to see results 3-10 days after the treatment.

This treatment is very effective in this area and, unlike most other areas treated with botulinum toxin, it can last for 10-12 months.

Hyperhidrosis is caused by the body’s sweat glands overactivity leading to excessive sweating which can be embarrassing.

TREATMENT: This treatment involves the administration of multiple, superficial injections of Botulinum toxin A, under the arms, blocking the signals from the nerve endings to the sweat glands. There is minimal discomfort during this procedure.

BENEFITS/RESULTS: Reduction or cessation of sweat production in your armpits, improving confidence and meaning you no longer need to be concerned with sweat marks on your clothes or bad odour.

PREPARATION/AFTER-CARE: The armpits will need to be clean shaven prior to this procedure.

Following treatment it is advisable to avoid applying products for 48 hours to avoid risk of infection.

Immediately after treatment, for the next 6 hours, splash water to the armpits to ensure no sweat build up at the injection sites.

DURATION: The treatment will take approximately 45 minutes and requires a consultation appointment at least 2 days prior to treatment. This is to allow for the prescription to be generated as the product is a prescription only medicine.

The effects can be seen after 1 week and can last for up to 10-12 months.

Profhilo is more than a skin booster!

TREATMENT: Profhilo is a revolutionary ‘beneath the skin’ injectable moisturising treatment containing one of the highest, pure, concentrations of hyaluronic acid available on the market.

Generally recommended for aged 30 years and over the administration of Profhilo is performed using a bio aesthetic point (BAP) technique. This involves 10 superficial injections (5 on each side). Popular areas to target with Profhilo are; face, neck, decollete and hands.

There can be a little discomfort from product administration but is not painful. It is possible to apply some numbing cream if required. No pain, no gain!!

It is important not to rub or massage the treated areas as this can have the consequence of uneven results. Avoiding extreme temperatures is also advised immediately after.
